For anyone wanting to start operating Portable Single Cameras (PSC) on location this module is a thorough introduction to the preparation and shooting of material on single camera. The aims of this course are to provide a comprehensive grounding in the preparation and operational requirements and techniques of single camera shooting, to understand the camera requirements for correct framing, focus, white balance, and exposure, together with a good understanding of optics. To give delegates experience in shooting material for news, documentaries or features. How to shoot for the edit suite; as a cameraman your aim is not only to produce quality pictures and sound, but shoot a story in such in a way that gives the editor an opportunity to cut you work in a variety of ways.

Television News Reporting

This course helps journalists develop their skills in communicating a story effectively and ethically through video. They learn how to identify, write, film and produce stories with confidence and context and to report in exciting new ways while maintaining standards of fairness, accuracy and quality. The course looks at how to capture audience interest and produce good edits. Technical skills, from basic editing to two-ways and pieces to camera are covered, as are legal dangers and copyright issues. It also covers the changing requirements of multimedia journalism and the range of audiences from traditional broadcasting to YouTube.

Introduction To Television Presenting

This course teaches people the core skills of television presenting. Whether broadcasting live or pre-recorded, reading from autocue or conducting personality interviews delegates will learn how to perform in front of the camera. The course covers voice training, script writing, studio craft and appearance. All delegates will leave with a professional ‘show reel’ of their on-camera exercises.

This core skills introductory course aims to develop your knowledge of the management, leadership, scheduling and budgeting skills required to successfully manage a factual television programme and production team. The aims of this course are to equip production staff with the core skills needed to successfully manage a factual television programme and develop their financial and team management skills. By the end of this course delegates will have gained the core skills required to successfully manage a television production and its staff which they can then augment by attending additional specialist skill courses.
