who it's for:
This course is aimed at Broadcast Assistants and Assistant Producers, Producers and others who are involved in the production of live and pre-recorded programmes for network radio. You will learn how to use SADiE on this course: you must let us know if you want to learn another digital editing system e.g. Cool Edit Pro or Pro Tools.
The aims of this course is for you to gain a grounding in the skills required to gather and process material for a network radio production, to understand digital workflow & to appreciate the other elements required around audio content – web & podcast.
- Recording - using a solid state recorder, microphones, location recording Editing - editing on VCS Star Track (brief intro to Sadie BB2/ProTools if required - however these are not the focus of this course)
- Interviewing - structure, purpose & questions Your digital workflow. Introduction to feature and package making.
- Practical exercises Editing vox pos Recording & editing interviews Playback and review.
By the end of the course you will be able to:
- carry out location recording in a variety of situations
- conduct vox pops and interviews - both on location and down the line
- understand the basics of carrying out a well structured interview with well formed questions
- edit material with VCS Star Track or Sadie BB2
- understand the basics of digital workflow, VCS Dira and metadata
You will have been introduced to the other elements for network radio production – web content, podcasting and future developments.
