In this course, first-time filmmakers and photographers making the transition into video will be introduced to many of the core building blocks necessary to make their first short films.

what you need to know about this course

This course provides an introduction to cinema theory and present information about equipment designed to provide consistent results when using the latest HDDSL cameras.

Students will explore the use of a variety of lenses, fluid heads, external monitors, follow focus units, JIBs and Sliders. Students will come away from this workshop with a strong understanding of the tools needed for productions, and when and how to best use them.

Day 1

Introduction

Basic introduction to the world of the 5d mark2 and HD DSLR, cinematography and to what it really takes to have professional footage.

HD DSLR Cameras

Explore the camera's features and explain technical details, shutter speed, aperture etc.

Equipment

Introduction to all of the equipment and how it is used to achieve creative shots.

Audio

Introduction to the audio world and the equipment that is used to capture sound in the DSLR world.

Day 2

Rough Live Footage

Language of cinematography, Lights and Camera, The Film crew, First Shoot. Editing and Pre-production Meeting. The second shoot and Post-production work.
