A two day course where the delegates have lots of hands on experience at making radio programmes using the latest digital equipment and up to the minute working practices. The emphasis is on team working and having a fun time with as much practical operational experience as possible. The course culminates in an 'as live' transmission of a short programme. The end products will be burnt onto CD for the delegates.
The aims of this course are to give delegates a fun, illuminating and very hands-on experience in making radio. They will leave the 2 day course with a good understanding of the technology and working practices that go into producing modern radio output. They should feel more comfortable and confident when using the terminology and jargon that is associated with this process.
No previous technical, operational or production knowledge is required, though a basic understanding of Windows is a definite advantage. The course is not designed to be a substitute for our in-depth operational training or to replace our longer, equipment specific, targeted technical courses.
At the end of the 2 days, delegates will have experienced:
- At first hand the roles of operator, presenter and studio producer in a modern radio studio.
- Used a variety of digital editing systems, portable recorders and playout and production systems.
- Experienced the need for lateral thinking and being pragmatic when thinking and being pragmatic when things don't go quite according to plan.
- The importance of team working along with the careful allocation of studio resources and time management are also highlighted.
- Excellent opportunity for teambuilding, discussion and project planning where appropriate.
who it's for:
Anybody from a non-technical, managerial or administrative background who's interested in finding out in a practical way about digital tapeless workflow and modern radio production.
On the first day, delegates are introduced to the basic components of live radio programmes, including: understanding the tapeless workflow, operating mixing desks, digital editors, play out systems and portable solid state recorders.
The second day consists of the delegates compiling their own 10 minute radio programme, using and building upon the skills and knowledge they acquired in the first day.
