The course aims to provide practical skills in configuring transport streams to MPEG- 2 and/or DVB standards, using test equipment to check they are compliant.
This course is designed for delegates who have already attended a theory course covering MPEG-2 and/or DVB systems, and who wish to test their knowledge in an 'off-air' environment.
The course aims to provide practical skills in configuring transport streams to MPEG- 2 and/or DVB standards, using test equipment to check they are compliant.
By the end of this course delegates will understand how the PSI and SI of a DVB stream is assembled during multiplexing, understand how it may be modified during re-multiplexing of MPEG streams, and have the ability to validate their own programmed streams using a variety of transport stream monitoring equipment in conjunction with the DVB and MPEG-2 standards documents.
who it's for:
Those who have some knowledge of DVB and/or MPEG-2 systems, and who wish to develop this knowledge in an 'off-air' environment. Delegates need to have a knowledge of the DVB standard, though no previous experience is assumed. This knowledge can be gained by attending the Digital Video Broadcasting course.
- The course begins with a brief summary of the construction of a transport stream, and the PSI and SI components that make MPEG-2 and DVB compliant streams. The rest of the course revolves around a multi channel MPEG-2 coding and multiplexing system, supported by off-air DTT and D-SAT streams, a re-multiplexer and a variety of different stream monitoring devices
- practical investigations are used to explore the functions and configuration of individual system blocks
- delegates design and construct a complete coding and multiplexing system from units which will need configuring from scratch
