The tcp/ip network training course provides a practical overview of Ethernet and TCP/IP (transmission control protocol/internet protocol) networking to enable broadcast engineers to set up and maintain IT networks used for connecting broadcast equipment.
What you gain from this tcp/ip network course
By the end of the tcp/ip training course you will be able to design, install and maintain small-scale network systems based on Ethernet and TCP/IP used by current broadcast hardware such as desktop editing, play out and control systems, video servers, databases, etc. You will also be able to provide basic level maintenance on enterprise network systems and deal effectively with the specialists responsible for them.
By the end of the course you will be able to:
- install a NIC (network interface card) and its driver into a computer
- design, install and maintain a small Ethernet network using hubs/switches and UTP cable
- maintain enterprise networks comprising varied hardware
- set up networking on Microsoft Windows servers and clients
- provide shares and connect to them using Microsoft Windows client machines
- deal effectively with the security aspects of file sharing
- set up a TCP/IP stack on a host
- use the inbuilt diagnostic TCP/IP utilities to find and remedy faults
- set up clients and servers for http, ftp and telnet, remote desktop (VNC or Other), streaming audio and video - set up network support servers such as DHCP and DNS
- use diagnostic tools like protocol analysers to solve network connection problems
- use an SNMP management tool to gather network statistics
