BBC

It is a public service broadcaster in the UK, having been established by a Royal Charter and funded by the licence fee that is paid by UK households which own a television. The BBC uses the income from the licence fee to provide services including eight national Television channels plus regional programming, ten national radio stations, 40 local radio stations and an extensive website, www.bbc.co.uk. The BBC also operates some commercial enterprises in the UK and overseas, including MENA.

BBC World Service broadcasts to the world on radio, television and online, providing news and information in 32 languages. It is funded by a government grant, not from the licence fee.

The BBC employs over 23,000 people in 43 countries and reaches 256 million homes.

BBC training and development
The BBC has a strong tradition of providing training internationally to improve broadcasting skills globally.

Last year BBC Training & Development trained over 63,000 delegates and ran over 70,000 training days. During the same period BBC Training & Development also delivered over 5,700 days of training to 263 external organisations and 406 freelancers.
