Over the last ten years Derek has worked on a variety of mainstream television projects as a Production Accountant, Production Manager & Line Producer. He has worked mainly for BBC1 and BBC2 but more recently in the independent sector for ITV with Granada and Tiger Aspect Productions, and finally with World Productions for Channel Five. He has also worked as a Line Producer for TalkBackThames on a Disney Channel production of 26 x 5 minute children’s programmes called As The Bell Rings. Derek has just finished working as a Production Manager on the BBC’s National Television Award and BAFTA award-winning drama ‘EastEnders’.

Some of his television credits include: ‘Ivanhoe’, ‘Mrs Bradley Mysteries’, ‘Silent Witness’, ‘Sweet Revenge’, ‘Berkeley Square’, ‘The Echo’, ‘Big Cat’ and the first two series of ‘Life Begins’. In film, Derek worked on the Edinburgh Festival award-winning ‘Young Offenders’ and ‘Last Resort’. He also worked on the Royal Television Society award-winning ‘Holding On’.

Derek also has extensive experience in the corporate sector where he has worked as a Line Producer on many projects for large blue chip companies including MFI, Comet, Siemens, BMW, Croda, Coutts Consulting and Halfords. He also worked as consultant on the management training courses that ARTTS ran for companies such as ICI, British Sugar, Post Office Counters Ltd, Red Tag and many more.

Alongside this work Derek has been involved in training aspiring media professionals to enter into the profession through hands on practical training in television production techniques for all genres of television. More recently he has been working with BBC training Producing courses in television production for people who are already working in their chosen profession and are looking to make progress within their own career paths. He also has extensive experience of Health & Safety issues, having overseen a wide variety of filming situations, including large scale stunts for film and television.
