A multi-skilled freelance journalist and media instructor with almost 20 years of experience as a reporter or an editor for some of the world’s top news organisations, including Reuters, Agence France Press and Bloomberg.


Although his career transcends journalism disciplines from global political news to world sports, Tony is widely acclaimed as a sports reporter and editor. He comes armed with experience in reporting or editing local and global sporting events, including the European Cup or Champions League, The Asian Games, the Olympics and the World Cup. Furthermore, Tony has spent much of his news agency career editing football news. “I've edited on football pretty much every day of my newswire career, including the World Cup desk work,” he said.

Tony also delivered a number of journalism training courses focused on football coverage, including one in Cairo recently.

As well as football, Tony has covered an array of news from Indian general elections, to Mother Teresa’s funeral and a variety of sporting events such rugby and cricket World Cups, World Athletics Championships and the Olympic games.

He has written three sports books (on cricket, rugby and golf) and has helped run several journalism training courses for the Reuters Foundation, including on sports. He was educated at Oxford University and speaks French and German.
